London Penthouse Interior Design
There are huge advantages to bringing an interior designer in early on your project planning and development. Hunterwood Interiors was commissioned by our client from the very outset to work on this luxury London penthouse apartment. Located in a prestigious development in central London we worked together with developer Berkeley Homes during this penthouse construction.
The project was carried out during the midst of the global pandemic and the brief is one that is driven by the changing lifestyles of a busy family challenged with creating functional space and layout for their home. All of this at a time when we found ourselves more at home together than ever before!
Working during the construction made it possible to plan in the changes to the interior architecture to work perfectly for the family with a new apartment floor plan and interior design features to bring their new home to life. The layout of the four bedroom penthouse was remodelled to include a new teenagers lounge and a home study space. The location of the cloakroom was changed allowing it to be accessed quietly away from the bedrooms via a communal corridor. The changes also created a new kitchen layout with a more informal breakfast dining area. A bonus in this room, for any busy family, is that the new layout allows more space for extra kitchen appliances.
Adding character to a new build property with uniquely designed features defines the space as your own. To create a focal point in the open plan lounge we designed a large contemporary fireplace which was built by our partner contractors. The overall design concept for the project was of contemporary elegance and timeless luxury. With a soft neutral background rooms were accented with touches of bold colour. Bespoke artworks on the walls, including specially commissioned hand painted panels brought elegant style to every room.
Due to the timing of the pandemic and lockdown restrictions much of the planning and client liaison on this project was carried out remotely. Additionally the clients used our project management services to oversee the quality and timing of contractors on site for the interior architecture changes, bespoke joinery, custom artwork and finally installation of furniture, home accessories and the finishing touches of styling details which we specified for this project.
